Auckland is a vibrant harbour city that has amazing food options.I love to visit Auckland and its ever evolving café and food scene, it is dynamic, ever-changing and full of surprises. Its actually where I grew up and my adventure into food and travel began!
Here is a list of a few new ones that have popped up recently
- Hare and Turtle – in the New Windsor/ Avondale area, only just opened so no website as yet ask a local as this is a definite word of mouth place to go. Try their homemade cinnamon buns with the excellent coffee
- Tiger Burger – Grey Lynn www.tigerburger.co.nz Amazing Korean inspired burgers with Seoulful staff and atmosphere to match, try their homemade kimchi .
- Oasis Café – Howick’s best kept secret with a definite homemade edge including their own peanut butter , and extensive healthy menu. Try the hot chocolate with the marshmallows flamed to order- perfect when its a bit of a rainy day www.oasiscoffee.co.nz
- Rad Café – Is a wonderful Vietnamese inspired café with very cool Star Wars inspired art on the walls. A buzzy place with that you may have to queue for (but it is worth it) . Try the Black Stack Burger with the braised pork belly with the Vietnamese inspired pickles and the squid ink brioche bun. Great coffee and you must take home a homemade Afghan biscuit for later ( Call me if you need a details on Afghan biscuits) www.thereturnofrad.co.nz
