Sydney

Sydney Lunar Festival
WHEN: February 1 – 10, 2019
WHERE: Alfred St, Sydney NSW 2000

Explore the Lunar Lanterns and discover your birth sign. A spectacular new pig lantern by Qian Jian Hua (Justin) will light up the western boardwalk of the Sydney Opera House. Go for a walk around the foreshore to see the 12 other spectacular lanterns that light up Circular Quay. There is plenty going on during the week like pop up events, markets, tours and dragon boat racing.

Melbourne

2019 Chinese New Year Melbourne Festival
WHEN: February 2 – 17, 2019
WHERE: Melbourne CBD, Melbourne VIC 3000

For this Lunar New Year, Melbourne will be hosting the biggest event ever that will unite families and friends in celebrating Chinese culture and traditions. The festival will be opened by the City of Melbourne mayor Sally Capp and will feature special cooking food demonstrations by Masterchef winner, Diana Chen at Queensbridge Square, along with a dragon awakening parade throughout Chinatown.

Brisbane

Lunar New Year at Fortitude Valley
WHEN: February 4, 2019 4-9pm & February 5, 2019 12-5pm
WHERE: Chinatown Mall, 33 Duncan St, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006

For two days only, Chinatown Mall will be bringing the excitement and fun to you. Watch traditional music performances and fire shows or get involved in interactive workshops. This is welcome to all ages and it’s free.

Gold Coast

WHEN: February 9, 2019 4-10pm WHERE: China Town, Davenport St & Young Street, Southport QLD 4215

On Saturday February 9, experience the Gold Coast’s fifth annual premier Lunar New Year Celebration 2019 in Chinatown, Southport.

Bring in the Year of the Pig at Gold Coast Chinatown with delicious Asian street food markets, live music and cultural entertainment, children’s activities, screening of Babe at 6:45 pm, a pop up laneway bar and a spectacular fireworks at 9:00 pm.

Adelaide

WHEN: February 9, 2019 12pm-10pm WHERE: Moonta St & Gouger St, Adelaide

Come and join the spectacular Lion Dance; music and songs of Adelaide’s multicultural communities; assorted with exotic foods and wines. Free event.
