WHERE we want to go for holidays is proving to be quite different from where we end up spending precious time off.
Data analysis undertaken by travel websites Booking.com and Kayak.com.au have revealed a considerable divide between Australians’ aspirational destinations and the reality.
For those heading overseas, Seattle in the US, Lisboa in Portugal and Reykjavik in Iceland are top of our wishlists.
Instead we are booking cheap flights to traditional favourites Los Angeles, London and Bali.
Booking.com analysed Aussies’ aspirational destinations based on growth in searches in 2016.
“When analysed against wider trends, the patterns of growth revealed some tantalising options,” said a Booking.com spokesman.
Other international destinations to make the top ten were St Petersburg in Russia, Colombo in Sri Lanka and Takayama, Japan.
Vancouver and Banff in Canada also ranked highly, as the country gears up to celebrate its 150th anniversary of Confederation. read the full article here
