“We have done it and couldn’t be anymore excited” were the first things that came out of GTS Director, Tyler Wood’s mouth when I arrived to catch up with him recently. Global Tour Specialists (GTS) have just released their 2016 Canadian Rockies packages to market which comes at a time when a lot of other companies are still finalizing rates.
“We needed to be different. When we analyzed the market and what it currently offers we saw a huge gap between consumer trends and market delivery” Wood commented.
What’s different? “It’s the attention to detail and quite often the little things that make a good tour extraordinary”. Global Tour Specialists went back to drawing board for 2016 and have come out with a totally new product.
Where as other companies start their tour in Calgary and head straight into the Rockies GTS takes the time to explore the artsy precinct of Inglewood first. Combine that with a specialty coffee (soy latte please) straight up most mornings, craft brewery tastings, gourmet picnics, regionally inspired menus and boutique accommodation choices chosen due to locality of town allowing more scope with free time and we can definitely see the difference.
Wood continues; “There are no ordinary moments on our tours, we only have our clients for 7 – 9 days and if we are going to leave an everlasting memory than its important we make an impact right from the start and continue right through to the end”. GTS still takes passengers to the iconic Fairmont properties such as the Chateau Lake Louise or Banff Springs but they put their own twist on it with high tea lunches or wine and cheese platters in the hotel areas that matter offering photographic views.
Lastly when I asked Wood what he thought was the highlight on their tours was he smiled and said “Now that would be telling wouldn’t it. You’ll just have to book won’t you. We have a few secrets up our sleeve”. And spending the morning with him I’m ready to go home and check my diary for free dates.
